Sometimes being spontaneous pays off. Work has been rather challenging since returning from Italy so, with 3 days off I thought that a quick "escape" would help. Sadly my chosen destination was fully booked for both the Saturday and Sunday evening but luckily we were able to secure a room for Monday. We arrived at The Beckford Arms in the lovely village of Fonthill Gifford near Tisbury mid afternoon, from the moment we stepped through the front door I knew I had made the right choice. Charming staff, very pleasing interior, lovely friendly bar and hugely comfortable sitting room. The weather was rather misty and damp so it was very welcoming to see log fires burning throughout. I am always encouraged with anywhere that allows dogs to stay, it normally guarantees a relaxed atmosphere, we are in the heart of the countryside after all!
Our room was gorgeous and beautifully decorated with a pretty view over the charming garden. (I did discover the paint colours used and will be using them here!) The very generous sized bathroom was packed with delicious smelling Bramley bath, body and hair products for your use, which should you fall in love with are available to purchase at the bar.

Dinner was delicious and relaxed, service very friendly and efficient. We woke refreshed and rested, the bed was beautifully comfortable. I felt genuinely sad to be leaving and really hope it isn't too long before we can return to this very special place in a gorgeous part of Wiltshire.
